TGIF

It's Autumn 1995, American TV network ABC has a 2 hour prime-time block on Friday nights called TGIF. The lineup:

-Family Matters
-Boy Meets World
-Step By Step
-Hangin' With Mr Cooper

What a great time it would have been to be an American. It was a golden era, a simpler time, where Sitcoms ruled and the only reality TV you could watch was Cops. I mark 1996, when Step By Step and Hangin With Mr Cooper were replaced by Sabrina The Teenage Witch and Clueless, as the second darkest year in US history. The darkest? 1997, when Roseanne finished its 9 season run. I miss you Roseanne Barr, you and your dysfunctional family that so light heartedly reminded me of my own.

Long live 90's Sitcoms! May they make us laugh and teach us valuable lessons via re-runs, for many years to come...

  2. I couldn't take Full House, everyone loved each other too much (unlike Family Matters where everyone loved each other juuust right). And yes, Uncle Joey I could take... barely... but Uncle Jesse put the last nail in the coffin as far as my viewership went, just because he was such a massive tool...

  3. I used to think Full house was stupid because every episode had to end with a great big, "awwwww"
