Paid My Due, So I Can View.

I came across something whilst looking through some old emails today. It was a list of SYB pay-per-views that I had made up one afternoon at Bells. For those of you not "down" with my "lingo", a pay-per-view (or PPV) is "a service by which a television audience can purchase events to view via private telecast".

When applied to wrestling, in particular WWE, a PPV is a monthly show, that often will have a better line up of matches than the weekly shows, a "gimmicky" name, that usually ties in with the them of the show (E.g. Cyber Sunday), and higher production costs. When applied to SYB, its just a stupid thing I made up, as a brass band has no need for monthly PPV's.

However, in all my brilliance, on that afternoon at Bells, I put together a 12 month calender of PPV's for SYB, some of which, I have listed below:

March; TNA PPV - Destination X, SYB PPV - Destination "Clef":
Only marches are played as per the name of the month.

August; WWE PPV - SummerSlam, SYB PPV - SummerSolo:
All Solo's at this event.

October; TNA PPV - Bound For Glory, SYB PPV - Promoted to Glory:
An event honouring great Band Masters and Composers of The Salvation Army.

November; WWE PPV - Survivor Series, SYB PPV - Salvation Series:
Traditional Salvationist music.

Its a funny thought, banding being so popular that people would pay to see these events monthly, but an even funnier thought, is that I spent so much time making these stupid things up, and then 18 months later, wasting more time writing a blog about it.

But I think the funniest thing of all, is that YOU wasted YOUR time reading it, and that is the most satisfying thought of all.
